Transit Art Project

It’s art with an impact.

Curriculum Summary

Students will be introduced to public art and public transportation and how their project will bring the two together.

The curriculum has recommended enrichment in the form of field trips on the public bus or around the neighborhood to identify their neighborhood’s unique characteristics.

Outcomes

Students will learn how to identify unique characteristics about their school’s surrounding neighborhood. They will also be making positive contributions to the branding of our public transit system and may also learn how to ride the bus from the field trip component.

Students will have the opportunity to learn how to work in a group and synthesize their ideas into one vision.

"The project left my students feeling more connected to their neighborhoods. One of my students said, 'I see it from all cultures clearly now!' The project also gave my students more confidence to speak freely about their art."

— Rosemary Wade, Croft Middle School Teacher
